“Were it not for the presence of the unwashed and the half-educated,the unreasonable and absurd, the horizon would not wear so wide a grin"

So like I told you, last week was the Grant County Fair and well let me just say, it was all I anticipated and more! I decided for this week I'm giving the review of some of my experiences, and I've been loading my camera with pictures, so for those of you who missed out or want to relive it. . . . . get excited because I'm psyched out of my mind for what's up next! But for today I wanted to share with you a dandy idea that's been brewing in my head.

The Sport that is "People Watching" has a prime season and for me, that's summer! I am continually shocked and amazed at the attire of most people when I head out for special summertime events, my amazement is especially perked during fair time, because it seems to me all rules and regulations regarding style fly out the window, and things that in normal life are mocked and snickered about behind ones back, all of a sudden become A OK!

Well alright then, if that's the case. . . . then game on!

SO for your benefit loyal blogging readers, I have compiled my very own list of things that are approved and encouraged to sport at special events like the one previously mentioned. No need to thank me I just want to ensure everyone blends in properly and doesn't feel foolish!

So here goes. . . .

Emily's Official Fair Time Style Guide

Do's

1. Rock a baseball cap. . . . but not just any baseball cap, only those sporting the logo of your favorite Auto Parts Store or local Gas station. . . .oh and make sure it's nice and stained with sweat and grease, that's much more authentic! All sports teams/ name brands need not apply!

2. I know you've had the same pair of jean shorts since '93, but please, please keep wearing them because apparently they never go out of style no matter what wash they are!

3. Unsure of what to pair with those classic cut offs

Fellas- The dirtier the T-Shirt the better and I don't mean unwashed, I mean please find that perfect shirt with a phrase on it that screams I'm the biggest Perv ever!!!!

Some of my personal favorites have been

"Sex Instructor, first lesson free"

"Will Work For Sex"

"What's a good girl like you, doing in dirty mind like mine"

and my personal favorite

"I'm not a Gynecologist, but I'd like to take a peek"

Isn't that tender! There where many others that where too dirty to repeat on my blog, but trust me they where gems!

And of course ladies, we can't forget you. . . . .

This mainly goes out to the ladies that are 40 and over. I have good news it's is officially OK for you to borrow your 21 yr. old daughters backless tank top, as long as you wear it to the rodeo you are golden! Just throw to the side the fact that things are not nearly as toned as they once where. . . . .I don't think anyone will notice! You just go and wear the heck out of that top with your cut off (but folded up so you can't tell) booty shorts and hit on a cowboy or two. After all you are as young as you feel, even if your saggy skin suggest otherwise.

4. My favorite look is the smocked tube dress, or as my Bro. in Law calls it the Uni-boob dress, appropriately named because that's exactly what it makes you look like, which to me is slightly unattractive, but I guess I'm the only one that feels that way, because I see these non stop on woman of every shape and size. No weight limit here!

DONT'S

1. DO Not. . . . I repeat Do Not Wear a belt. . . .ever! I think the picture explains it all!

2. There's no need to be ashamed of the part of your arms that don't see the sun, or it's OK if your swimsuits a halter top and your rocking something strapless. Do you have awkward tan lines, well wear them with pride because I guess I'm the only one judging people about this!

3. Ah the Fanny Pack . . . . . All joking a side this item is actually very handy at places like theme parks and festivals. . . .which makes them OK to sport, because they are simply just more convenient! I ridicule the pack of the fanny only when you're a middle aged man with pleated shorts and a baseball hat with an over sized bill and you come waltzing into my workshop at WorkSource with one of them on your hip, because then it's just ridiculous! So don't hate on the fanny pack unless you fit the description I just described!

MUST HAVES!

1. You cannot pass up an opportunity for an over sized button with you and your closest family/friends, and be sure you wear that button some where for everyone to see, heck while your at it get two and wear one on each hip, that is a trend that defines fair time for me! It never fails, everywhere I look someones got an over sized button or an abundance of buttons and I think to myself who said that was cool? Apparently whoever it was is highly influential because this has been happening for years!

2. Any kind of grill in it self is fairly unattractive to most people, so add blinking lights to that effect and you got a pretty ugly accessory on your hands! But as un-adorable as it may be, still a huge huge hit with boys and girls a like, after the demo derby I can't tell you how many lit up mouths I saw, it was so funny looking, they must not have mirrors in the bathrooms, because I would think if anyone got a good look at themselves they would have realized how silly that was! But even so I guess my opinion doesn't matter and majority rules and that is why the light up grill is one of my must have accessories!

People never stop amazing me. I mean here I thought things like The Mullett because of it's widely known bad reputation would have people heading straight to the barber! Sadly, that is not so, I'm talking crazy talk because there where mullets all over the place along with everything else I just mentioned. So I've decided, if you can't beat 'em join 'em and the same goes for you. . . . you've been warned! My work here is done!

Peace!

"Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work."- Thomas Edison

So don't you worry blogging friends I have some amazing posts lined up for this week because it's Grant County Fair Week here in Moses and this last weekend we had a Single Adult activity, so plenty of stuff to talk about, but no pictures and believe me. . . you want to see the pictures, and speaking of which I noticed the other day I've got a few shots I haven't gotten the chance to show you, so here are some dandies I've managed to get this summer. . . . please enjoy!

Every year the Single Adults in Wenatchee and Chelan put together this Lady of the Lake activity where they rent a barge and have a dance on it and then have kids stay the night and the next day have like devotionals and service projects and recreation time and blah blah blah, we just went to the dance and by we I mean a whole slew of us fly single ladies from the ward!

This is Shad Forrester and I sharing a moment when he asked me to dance!
Whenever we have activities Michelle likes to play a game called "lets take the worst picture of Emily possible". . . . this is one of her more successful shots!

This is me attempting to strike a very modern pose out on the dance floor!

Some of you may not know this, because she will deny if you ask her, but Ellerey Ena is actually a good dancer. . . .you should ask her to do her signature lucky fin move sometime!
This shot is of Michelle, Me and Liberty Baker doing our impression of us smushed in the car on the way to the activity, it was awesome! Good thing we are all friends!

And Here's our whole crew! Yes all seven of us hoped in Mama Stoker's Durango and hit the town!
In the back it's Michelle, Myself, and Gwenny on the sides Miss Ellerey and Diedra Kofeid and the front row is Amber Berguson and Libby!
No love connections where made unfortunately, but don't think I wasn't perusing the crowd because I totally was, but I think most boys where too excited about the amazing Techno jams that where being played, or rocking out to every song on the NOW 5 disc. . . .it was almost as if "All The Small Things" had just come out, judging by the reaction of the crowd, and it was then I decided I would not like to date any boy who considered that his "Jam"
This is me with Marcia Asay, she offered me one of her Mu Mu's when we went over to their home for a BBQ after church. . . . how could I refuse because those things are comfy!

I know what your thinking. . . .Oh my Gosh is that Bruiser the dog from Legally Blonde?
No, it's Bruiser my co-worker Tabitha's dog. . . .almost had you fooled didn't I!

These next two shots are of some Carni's who where kind enough to let me take a picture with their stuff.

I sort of need this Pimp hat in my life!

HMMM which inflatable shall I choose Spidey?. . . or Shortcake? Life's full of tough decisions!

This is a nice shot of me with Aunt Maxine who is Angie friend Tamu's Aunt. She was in town for the twins Graduation and Isaiah's baptism just like us! I really really really am kicking myself for

a) Not getting a picture of her fabulous bag, two words leopard and rhinestones.

and

b) Not getting some kind of recording of her playing the Piano like she would for her Baptist choir back home! She made it the coolest Baptism I've ever been too!

Make sure you look closely because sometime in my life I will own glasses that are completely covered in crystals like hers and see how her hat, dress, and shoes match! MAN! Why don't we dress like this at church!!?? I'm going to admit it right here and now, When I grow up I want to be Aunt Maxine!

We got invited to go with Tamu and her family to a graduation party for a friend of their family, This is us in the kitchen pretending to actually be having a conversation. It's Angie, Me, My BFF Johnny Walker from my BYUI days, and Tamu's daughter MiKayla.

This is our imitation of celebrities being accosted by Paparazzi. . . .pretty good huh?
This is Angie and Jay Jay, the cutest little boy in the whole world! I fell in love with this kid while we where visiting in Utah!

One stop on our trip to Provo was at Krystin and Jeff's soon to be old apartment so we could have dinner with K Dizz and her hubby, and not only did she make us dinner, but she gave us some parting gifts as well, Angie's is "Butt Creme" for diaper rash and mine is a Spinal Tap T-shirt. . . . best ever!!!!!

Please stay tuned because I have many more zany stories and pictures to thrill and entertain you!!!! But for now. . . .

Peace Out!

"Make New Friends and Keep the Old One is SIlver and the Other's Gold"- Girl's camp song

I met a new blogging friend, Her name is Tameka and I checked her sight out and it is pretty sweet! And just like I always do I copied something I saw on her page, Thanks for the great questions T. Allen-Mercado and to all the rest of my blog BFF's feel free to follow suit and be sure to check her out as well, you won't be disappointed!
1. 5 of your favorite things

-Wearing a cute dress to church.
-Making my friends laugh, even when it’s at me.
-Performing
-Testimony meetings in the Singles Ward
- Music

2. 5 things you wanted to be when you grew up

-a Rodeo Queen
-a Teacher
-a Diva
-an Actress
-a Las Vegas Showgirl

3. 5 of the best compliments that you have ever received

1. I am on activities committee at church and so occasionally I get to get up and make an announcement about what we have planned for that particular event I have a hand in. I try to make my announcements as memorable as possible so that maybe it will stick in people’s heads and they’ll want to come, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t (most of the time it doesn’t). Last Sunday one of the Boys from the Quincy Crew told me My announcements where the reason him and his buddies decided to keep coming to Moses Lake for church, and that made me feel pretty good, If I have that much sway on people maybe someday my time at the podium will get me a husband . . . .baby steps, right?

2. Almost two years ago When Dream girls came out Joey (Our favorite Karaoke host) Added the song “Listen” to her collection. So I tried it out that night, it’s a big song and I didn’t quite nail it in my own opinion, but when I got back to our table Angie told me she got chills and Michelle backed her up and I’ll never forget the sincerity in their voices as they complimented me on my performance, it means a great deal to me to have their approval (maybe a little too much) and that moment gives me something to hold on too when my performances aren’t as moving in my eyes and theirs.

3. I ran into Terry Pyle at Safeway a few years ago and he randomly thanked me for being a good example to his daughter Lilly, and I had no idea what it was that I had done, but I kept that compliment in my heart for a while, because up until then I never really thought I had any influence on anyone, so it made me stop and think some things through. I have a special place in my heart for the Pyle family anyway and I’m not just saying that because Susan Reads my blog, but it was icing on the cake that a family I admired so much, would have such a nice thing to say about me too.

4. One time in Young Woman’s Sis. Pinegar told me I had beautiful hands, no one has ever complimented me on them before and it really meant a lot to me because I always thought they where pretty chubby, and the fact that she thought so, even if she was the only one, It made me re- think the way I felt about them.

5. There was this kid that used to make fun of me when I was in grade school and so I always steered pretty clear of him up until we had Seminary together in High School and one day Bro. Stones had decided each day we would draw a name of a few classmates and everyone would have to write something nice about that person and give it to them, when my name was drawn, I received a lot of really nice notes, but the one from this guy stuck out the most, because in my head he was my enemy (I had a lot of undealt with issues I guess) and he told me how he thought I was really talented and funny, he could have just told me I was nice, but he actually highlighted some things he appreciated about me and to me that meant the world!

4. 5 songs that you would pick as your theme songs.

-Big, Blonde, and Beautiful, Hairspray
-Dreamin’, Amos Lee
-Lesson Learned, Alicia Keys
-Oh Happy Day, Sister Act II
-Tell Him, Lauryn Hill

5. 5 people that inspire(d) you.

-Mr. McGuire (Choir Teacher)
-Ms. Mac (Eccentric Drama Teacher)
-M’lee Jackson (Mia Maid Advisor and Camp Leader)
-Sis. Bossard aka Boss (College Voice Teacher)
-Bro. Stones (Seminary Teacher)

6. 5 things I like about county fairs/festivals

-Elephant Ears
-Rodeo Clowns
-Vintage Photo Booths
-Oversize Button Booths
-Cowboys

7. 5 things I take with me when I leave the house

-The Current book I’m reading (Breaking Dawn, as of now)
-my camera
-lately my make-up bag (Not up early enough to finish my face at home)
-Gum preferably Orbit Sweet Mint aka Christmas Gum
-My AmeriCorp Water Bottle

8. 5 of my favorite days of the year

-Halloween
-Christmas
-National Sweater Day
-My Birthday
- Boxing Day

9. 5 genres of music I listen to

-Show Tunes
-Hip-Hop
-R&B
-Oldies
-Pop

10. 5 of my favorite places to shop

-Fuego
-Torrid
-Sydnee’s Creations
-Barnes & Noble
-Liberating Style

"Pizza, Pizza"- Little Ceasar

Today's blog post is dedicated to one of my favorite places to eat in Moses Lake! There are a lot of places that flood me with memories and this place is one of them, every summer we'd come here when family was in town and My cousins and I would constantly hit up our parents and Grandma for quarters so we could play songs on the jukebox or get a high score on the video games, or if you where me, I'd save all the money I got and sneak over to Sights and Sounds and buy the latest Ace of Base single on cassette tape!

Anyway, in Moses Lake you see a lot of people come and go, but I'd be willing to bet if you had people list their top ten favorite things about Moses Lake, Chico's Pizza would top the list! I mean Angie's Brother is a Chef in New York, that is home to some of the greatest pizzeria's around, but when he comes home, he always makes it a point to eat there. . . . .because yeah, It's that good!

So Friday Michelle invited us (Me and Gwen) to go with her and some new friends from Royal City. Wiley, Tom, and Dana. And we had a gay old time!

This is Tom and Dana, they are engaged, I think they should use this as their engagement picture!

What's Wong WiWey, Why Awe U Frwowing?

That's better, Gwenny gets it!

Apparently we weren't the only ones who thought Chico's on friday night would be awesome, Here's Nette Nette with her Family!

And Then Surprise, Surprise, who else do I see, but my very own parents. . . . .Awkward!!!! This is my Mom with not my Dad that's George Whitney long time friend of my family

And Here's my Dad blending into the crowd with that yellow hat, talking to some guy he went to High School with! I guess every first weekend in August some of the friends my Mom and Dad Graduated with get together for a little mini-Reunion, and where do they go every year. . . .Oh Yeah Chico's Pizza! I forgot that was that particular weekend. . . . how silly of me!

Ah The Jukebox, you never could really hear your song choice over the usually crowded dining area a buzz with lively chatter, it never stopped me from jamming out anyway or making special dedications.

"This was the place I found out about condoms. . . .What's this machine got in it Mom?" Thanks Chico's!

In my day you had to save them up or bum them off of any adult with a wallet, now they have a machine that provides them for you. . . . it's about time!

This is a new addition to the arcade, and is apparently unbeatable because Gwen and I couldn't seem to get the F'n crabs back to there home!
I will whack you in the face CRAB!!

Sometimes things seem like a good idea for some people. . .

. . . .But not so good for others!

I could think of a lot of cliche Terminator or Clint Eastwood movie quotes to throw at you right now, but I'm just gonna let these photos speak for themselves.

Even my Mom Joined in on all the fun!

All in all it was a very pleasant evening, and I was appreciative of the reminder of how awesome Chico's Pizza is! I seriously have had so many good times and good meals there, and it's one of those places that makes me super excited about the place that I live. Moses Lake is a small small town and it's beauty is surpassed by many other places, but Chico's Pizza is one of the many things about Moses that make me forget how much I dislike Sage Brush, the smell of the lake after a hot day and the fact that we have 5 subways and no Wendy's.

Gwenny decided to rock all the accessories I had stored in my purse, I think she really makes this look work for her!

You're Silly WiWey!

I can't believe I ate the Whole THING!!!

Bunny ears really??? Like that's original!

Well I guess that's all for this edition of cool places in Moses Lake, Until next time

. . . . . Peace Out!
